@Sumi – Welcome to Follow Me Foodie! Thanks so much for stopping by! 15+ years is a long time so I think it’s probably changed. I felt the same as you. I came here more than 10+ years ago and I didn’t remember it being as good as it actually was. I should actually go revisit it since a lot can happen over a few months or even weeks! Thank you for your recommendation! Are you sure it’s not called Greek Village or something else? I think I’ve been there… by Cactus Club?

Hi I just became a recent blog reader (didn’t realize how much I was missing) and came across your site today. I had eaten at My Greek Taverna years ago (15 plus) and I don’t really remember my experience being so good. With that being said it may be because it you drive north towards 80th Avenue there is a greek restaurant called Greek Taverna which is absolutely wonderful and delicious. Not sure if you have tried them yet, haven’t gone through all your archives yet but if you haven’t you need to try them. I don’t think they are open on Sundays.

Ok I really hope it was just a bad day. I just checked Urbanspoon and it has 95% based on 24 votes… which isn’t too many, but it is a decent indicator. Hmmm it’s probably safe to give it another chance, especially since the food is affordable… so it won’t be too disappointing if it’s a let down again. Please feel free to leave an update comment here so people know if things went well. I’ll also plan for a revisit! Thanks again!

Just finding your site thanks to Friday Follow on Twitter. I live in Surrey just down the street from My Greek Taverna. We tried this restaurant in early summer 2010 soon after moving into the area, and were disappointed. I don’t remember specifics, but I had chicken souvlaki and I remember it was dry. So, we haven’t gone back. After reading this, though, I wonder if maybe it was just an off-day. We’ll have to go back sometime!

I’m still picky with French food, but Greek food I don’t think should be overpriced…

French food can be very rich and hearty and too buttery so I wouldn’t be able to do that everyday – but kudos to you for doing it!

Bow – when am I ever eating until I’m NOT stuffed? … oh I was in pain after this meal!

Mau – You’re right about AUTHENTIC Greek! It’s like Italian food here… I find the ingredients these cuisines use will just never be fresh enough in Vancouver, thus we get the “easier” popularized dishes. However I know a Greek guy and he told me he goes to Pasparo’s in North Vancouver for Greek food. Try the grilled squid, eggplant dip, lamb, rabbit, and ekmek! YUMMY! The menu is more authentic than most Greek places I find.

Delicious. Healthy too. Been to the one at Coquitlam. I’m less picky with French and Greek restaurants here that offer good value. I can eat that every day and not worry about putting on weight. Changing my id (^_^)

It is a bit of a shame that Greek restaurants here in Vancouver area don’t make 100% real Greek food. I had the pleasure to travel around Greece three years ago and the food there is SO much better than the one that you can find here. The first thing I learn was that souvlaki is street food in Greece, in fact, I was told that if a restaurant in Greece had souvlaki in their menu then I should just leave right away: tourist trap!. The most incredible thing for me is that I don’t understand why Greek restaurant here in Vancouver don’t make real Greek food…it sure didn’t seem to be “that” complicated in Greece. We have here most of the ingredients they use. I’ve been told that Greek food in little Greece in Toronto is very close to the real thing.

One issue with going to Greece: you will never feel like eating Greek food again in Vancouver.

Beautiful mouth-watering pics,as always, the pita/ hommous dish looks terrific…Greek cooking can be classified as great comfort food; the portions look very generous, I sure you got stuffed.
