Happy Halloween Follow Me Foodie Readers!
My favourite Halloween candies, chocolates and treats are different from the ones I used to like as a kid. I used to love getting Old Dutch Chips, Mr. Noodles, M&M’s, Skittles, Fuzzy Peaches, Sour Patch Kids, Cherry Blasters, Rockets, Coffee Crisps, Crunch, Skittles, 3 Musketeers and of course Twix. Times have changed and so have my taste buds. I can still appreciate the ones I used to like, but I just might not chose them first. The ones I like now are Peanut M&M’s, Mr. Big, Peanut Glosettes, Reese’s Pieces and again my all time favourite – Twix chocolate bars.
So for this Halloween I’m handing out Old Dutch Chips, the Nestle chocolate mix of Kit Kats, Smarties, Coffee Crisps, and Aero as well as Peanut M&M’s, Twix and Mars bars. I’m doing a combination of what I liked then and what I like now. I always hand out what I like now because then I can indulge in the leftovers.
This year I’m spicing things up… or I guess “sweetening” things up. For costumes I really like, or for kids dressed up as food (which will be none) or for kids who look like foodies (lol I don’t know how I’ll determine that part)… but anyways, for those kids I’m handing out these…
I introduce to you Match Oreo Cookie Bars!
Matcha Oreo Cookie Chocolate Bar (Japan)
I know. Some of you might be thinking what a freaking waste!! What kind of kid is going to appreciate a MATCHA OREO BAR!? But the thing is I want to encourage kids to learn about cultures through food. I also feel obligated to Follow Me Foodie to hand out something less generic. These Matcha Oreo Cookie Bars are seriously gold.
To: Nestle. Please start selling these in Vancouver. I freaking love these things! It’s the delicious combination of Oreo and Matcha! It’s crunchy with peices of Oreo cookies throughout. It’s the perfect balance of matcha flavour and chocolate and I like to put mine in the fridge before indulging.
Coconut M&M’s (San Diego, California, Austin, Texas)
Moving onto other delicious chocolate bars, in particular Kit Kats, and the exotic flavours they offer in different countries.
Green Tea/Matcha Kit Kat (Japan/Hong Kong)
Raspberry & Passion Fruit Kit Kat (Japan/Hong Kong)
Royal Milk Tea Kit Kat (Japan/Hong Kong) – This is my favourite.
I’ve also tried Apple Kit Kat (YUM!), Sakura Cherry Blossom and Match Kit Kat, Raspberry Kit Kat and apparently there’s a Soy Sauce and Wasasbi Kit Kat too. So next Halloween I should probably just go trick-or-treating in Japan… who’s with me?

I would SO dress up as food just to get cool Asian chocolate. =P
Oh my god….I really want one of those Matcha oreo bars *adds to list of junk food to buy in Tokyo in December*
I had those Coconut M&Ms in Honolulu and they were delicious! I wish I had bought more of them. I really like the cherry blossom kit kat, and the matcha one as well. I wanted to try the Royal Milk Tea one after Nicole (lemodedujour) talked about them at konbiniya-but when I went they didn’t have it anymore!
WOW, give me that Match Oreo Chocolate bar! Did you get it in Vancouver? I need to hunt those down!
Can I send my daughter to your house for trick or treating??? i would totally raid her bag of goodies for one of those Matcha oreo bars!
lol wow! I didn’t know I’d generate so much hype with these chocolate bars! Hmmm do I hear a Follow Me Foodie contest coming up?!?! I’ll try to get my hands on some more and host a contest. The ones I have are from Japan!
@Megan – STOCK UP! I’m so excited for you!! I want to try the wasabi soy sauce Kit Kats!
I’ve decided that I probably shouldn’t read this blog on an empty stomach…

I can dress up as a giant pink cupcake !! does this mean I get some Matcha candy ???
@Jeffrey T lol that would be sweet!! They do have cupcake costumes out right now too!
Hey Mijune,
I know where I can find 2 of the above listed treats in the Lower Mainland.

Hey Mijune,

T&T used to have the Kit Kat’s! but not the Royal Milk Tea ones
I also think they have the white chocolate matcha ones, but not the only matcha ones.
You need to haunt the small candy stores. Sadly, Candyland in Yaohan seems to be gone. There’s still a small store in Crystal Mall that sells mostly Japanese candy. I think I’ve seen the matcha KitKat at the convenience store in Lansdowne.
I *know* I’ve seen chestnut KitKat somewhere too!
@Nathan Chan – WHAT!?!?! KitKat in chestnut flavour?! I’m going on the hunt!
FYI: According to the Noshwell blog, they picked up some of those matcha oreo bars at Donald’s Market, 2279 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, 604.255.1440.
