The 2nd Annual Food Fight! The Battle for Brunch!
A feast and fundraiser for Variety – The Children’s Charity’s
Lavender Donuts with sweetened Mascarpone Cheese from YEW Restaurant last year.
BATTLE BRRRRRRUUUNNCCHHHH!!!! Just like how the Chairman announces it on Iron Chef America! That’s how excited I am about this event! What better battle is there?! Well… I could think of lots… but brunch is pretty damn hard to top! Who doesn’t love brunch?! It’s a super hearty late breakfast, where I’m not required to wake up early for, followed by a nap! Or is that only my definition of brunch?
Anyways on Sunday, April 10th some of BC’s finest Chefs will gather at Terminal City Club and battle for your vote for the best brunch. Attendees are invited to sample a delicious gourmet brunch offered at each station and cast their vote to determine one Chef as the Food Fight champ!
I can’t believe it’s already been year since I last attended the Food Fight! The Battle for Brunch! I’m so happy to hear that they’re making it an annual event especially since it’s a feast and fundraiser for Variety – The Children’s Charity! Last year was so much fun and it was a great excuse for me to eat six eggs in one day. Hey we’re all allowed our indulgences once in a while, except I think for me it’s more often… but who cares! This is for a great cause to help raise funds for children who have special needs, and if I can show support by doing what I do best – eating, then in the words of The Beatles “Let it Be!” Please join me! I shouldn’t have to convince you it’ll be fun! If you need a little bit of convincing then check out my post from last year here.
This year, Food Fight competitors include: Market by Jean-Georges, O’Doul’s Restaurant & Bar, Terminal City Club, Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Resort, YEW restaurant + bar and more! Silent and live auctions will feature items donated by LIFT Bar & Grill, Skoah, Cookworks, Mink Chocolates, Sea Cider Farm & Ciderhouse, and many more. A cash bar will be offering a variety of wines, champagne and other liquid libations.
Tickets are $45 and available online at www.variety.bc.ca/foodfight.htm or by calling the Variety office at 604.320.0505 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 604.320.0505 end_of_the_skype_highlighting.

wow, thanks for the contest. i’d love to go! i think my fave brunch spot so far is cafe medina.
Best brunch: gotta be Twisted Fork. More than just bennies, bottomless french press coffee, great rosti, and they’ve made me like scrambled eggs again (but only if with asparagus like they’ve done!) Plus they’ve got a better version of the Caesar (aptly named the ‘Bruno’) to cure all hangovers. Can’t be beat.
Favorite place for brunch is Glowbal Grill! Love their banana bread/doughnuts too.
Urban Fare Coal Harbour. They have very good omlettes and eggs benny. I go there a few days a week because its so close to work and its very good quality for about $12
My favorite brunch is the Sunday brunch buffet at Reflect Lounge @ Hilton Bby!
My favorite brunch place is Cafe Medina!
wow what a great line up of restaurants for this year’s battle – i haven’t even heard about this event until this year 🙂 my fave brunch in the city has got to be at jethro’s fine grub.. the pancakes here are HUGE!
My favorite is the the buffet brunch at Griffins in Hotel Vancouver.
My favorite brunch spot in the city is Cafe Medina – nothing beats a lavender latte, fricassee, and belgian waffles with lavender chocolate sauce. I’m craving it just typing this!
The best brunch I have been to is at the Pan Pacific Cafe Pacifica. We used to go each year for my birthday and they have everything…..sushi, seafood, fruit platters, custom omelettes, dessert tables, etc. It is a buffet, so we fill ourselves up on all the amazing food 🙂
I love Glowbal for brunch, that is one of my favourites in the city!
I love eating brunch at Seb’s on Broadway near Fraser Street. There are always lineups to get their brunch!
Our fave brunch spot is the Avenue Grill in Kerrisdale 🙂
Epicurean Cafe Bistro in Kits. Get the “earthy breakfast” and get ready for deliciousness – two eggs poached in a savoury tomato sauce, topped with a grilled turkey or pork sausage, with marinated eggplant (ask for it spicy) and roasted potatoes. AMAZING SERVICE!!
I love brunch at Provence Marinaside on a beautiful day, sitting outside on the patio. They have delicious bread and I love the jam!
It’s gotta be Cafe Medina – everything is awesome, especially the waffles…
I like to have brunch at Reflect at the Metrotown Hilton hotel. Love your blog! Good luck to me. ;o)
I love Abigail’s Party for brunch. Their Bison Short Beef Hash is awesome! I wish they have brunch everyday of the week 🙂
Believe it or not- Milestone’s actually has a really great brunch menu. I love their Grilled Shrimp California Benedict with the housemade avocado salsa. Ooh and a Ceasar on the side cuz you know…it’s never too early haha
I love Twisted Forks!!! YUMMY YUMMY =)
I’m going to Cafe Medina tomorrow…i hope its just as good or better!
Thanks =)
Best brunch is preserved eggs with pork congee with Chinese donuts at Congee Noodle House.
My favorite place for brunch is Provence marinaside, love being by the water
i rarely wake up early enough for brunch, but Paesano’s is nice- outside on the patio in the summer, simple italian brunch, nice and close to home.
Abigail’s Party in Kits has the best brunch
Rhizome has the best brunch.
I love Provence Marina side’s brunch, it’s a classy affair. Great food, beautiful waffles, and a sea of old ladies at the table next to you 🙂
Good brunch at Salade De Fruits
I really love sunday brunch at the buffet at the River Rock.
it was Cafe Medina, but currently I’m completely in love with Jethro’s Fine Grub!
My favourite brunch spot (that I’ve tried so far!) is Little Nest on Charles Street by Commercial Drive. It’s definitely a family-oriented spot, but they have the most amazing breakfast items. Their brioche french toast with creme fraiche and fresh fruit is to die for!
Favorite brunch?hmmm…that’s a hard one since there’s so many good places! The first one that comes to mind is Tapenade in Steveston. They use fresh seasonal ingredients and the flavors are all very complementary. My favorite is their mushroom toast ( i don’t remember the official dish name).
Haven’t been to brunch for a long time, but Paul’s Omelettery is pretty good. I’ll have to try some of the ones that have been mentioned. Thanks for the giveaway!
Brunch is my favourite meal of the day for sure, with Twisted Fork being my favourite place for brunch. I’ll have to try some of these others places listed though 🙂
Cafe medina is my fav …. see you at the event.
I definitely love Cafe Medina! and I have heard so many great things about Twisted Fork, that I must get myself there in the near future. Great giveaway, sounds delicious..I hope to attend either way;)
Thanks Mijune!
Definitely The Well on Main street. The portions are generous, tasty and best of all, amazingly presented!!!
Jethro’s Fine Grub all the way! I’m drooling just thinking about their Crab Cake Benny! And before eating this, I didn’t even like benny’s! They converted me and I love them for it!
best brunch in the city is provence marinaside. sunny day on the patio looking onto the water, the boats, aquabus. people walking their dogs, blading, biking. walk off your lunch after with a nice stroll along the seawalk! doesn’t get any better than that!
Cafe Medina’s is definitely a favorite of mine, minus the line ups =p! The event sounds like a blast =)
The Piggy Royale at Tapenade is awesome! It’s at LEAST a 2-person meal.
Subeez
The Elbow Room has the best brunch!
My favorite brunch in the city is Joe Fortes on the patio in the summer time!!
I have to say Cafe Medina is my favorite. My favorite dish is the Fricasse and go before 9:30 AM to avoid a wait.
Provence Marinaside for sure! No one can beat delicious chicken crepes with an awesome marinaside patio!
My fav place for brunch is at Rainbow Butterfly restaurant in Port Coquitlam. They have yummy dim sum
My favourite brunch is definitely at the Alibi Room! Tomato and Brie Benny or French Toast with sour dough, strawberries, brie and maple syrup! Also, their locally made breakfast sausage and pan fries are delicious!
My fav Brunch is at Little nest on Charles st, just off Commerical
