Follow Me Foodie to Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
If you missed my bi-weekly Foodie Friday segment on NEWS 1130AM this morning at 11am, here’s a recap of what you missed!
October starts tomorrow and it’s also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so let’s celebrate the twins by eating more of what keeps them healthy and happy!
Research shows that anti-oxidant rich foods can help reduce the risk of cancer. Some of these foods include berries, rich leafy greens like spinach and kale, tomatoes, garlic, green tea, dried apricots, prunes, nuts, seeds, and even dark chocolate.
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation recommends eating 5-10 servings of fruits and vegetables every day and to include whole grains in your diet. Reducing the amount of daily fat, sugar, and limiting to one drink or less per day is also the smart thing to do, but I find that’s the biggest challenge… for me at least. Well the drink part I can handle, but fat AND sugar? I’ll work on it!
Actually, I challenge it! For the month of October I challenge EVERYONE to make a pledge! Men, women, young, old, working, retired, foodie, non-foodie, this is a pledge open to ALL.
