Context, education, quality and the bartender can make a difference when it comes to appreciating new things, and I had all the elements to make the equation work. Here’s my Hawksworth Spirited Dinner featuring a southern menu paired with whiskey cocktails.

That’s a bold statement and to base your entire brand on one thing leads everyone to have high expectations. “The Best” anything in the world is a courageous claim, and it’s one I had to check out for myself. So was it really “The Best Chocolate Cake in the World”?

It’s critically acclaimed as one of the finest and best Indian restaurants in the world. I think it’s worth it if you include all the generous appetizers, great food, ambiance and service, but whether it’s worth the 2 hour wait is the real question.

I like Jazz Apples, Jazz music and heck even Jazz hands, but what about Asian Jazz? Hmmm, I don’t know how jazzed up I am about this one. Chinese food in Surrey? And it’s next to Source Adult. All signs were pointing to no, but I did it anyways.

This is what inspired 10 Characteristics of a Hipster Restaurant and 10 Characteristics of a Hippie Restaurant. It’s a hybrid of hipster meets hippie with a nice space and open kitchen. The focus is on house baked bread and coffee.. hipster hot spot.

It was the final competition and grand finale of the Gold Medal Plates 2012 in Kelowna. 9 of Canada’s top chefs came to compete for the title of “Canada’s Best Chef” and Chef Marc Lepine from Ottawa earned the title and took home “The Gold Medal Plates” Award.
