Pulled Pork, ManCakes, and a BC Home + Garden Show Ticket Giveaway!

Did someone say pulled pork? YES PLEASE! Pulled pork is one of my favourite things and it’s right up there with duck confit and braised beef short ribs. Sure fried chicken, beef ribs and sous vide anything has its place, but when “pulled pork” is on the menu it’s on my table.

It’s the 2012 BC HOME + Garden Show from February 22nd-26th at BC Place Stadium and the pulled pork cook off is one of the many highlights! Well as a foodie, it is the highlight, but of course the kitchen exhibitors are also on my list!

Re-Up BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich

The pulled pork cook-off or competition is happening on the Opening Night Housewarming Party on February 22 at 6pm and I’m honoured to be invited as a judge. Gosh I’m so excited I could cry… or give a Tim Allen grunt! Pulled Pork competitors include Michael Kaisaris and Chester Carey of Re-Up BBQ, Park Heffelfinger and George Siu of Memphis Blues BBQ House, and Robert Luft from Food Network Canada’s Recipe to Riches Entrée Winner. On top of that ManCakes Bakery (cupcakes for men) will also be there with samples and Rock 101 will take care of the music.

This year The Outdoor Entertaining Stage will feature Vancouver’s top chefs, BBQ gurus and beverage experts who will answer all your BBQ questions and share some of their recipes. Ned Bell and Bruno Feldisen of YEW restaurant + bar; Robert Luft of Food Network Canada’s Recipe to Riches, Park Heffelfinge and George Siu of Memphis Blues, Michael Kaisaris and Chester Carey of Re-Up BBQ, Rockin’ Ronnie Shewchek and Brian Misko of House of Q, Karen Barnaby of the Fish House and Angie Quaale of Welled Seasoned are people to watch for.

Can’t wait for this competition!! I haven’t tried every pulled pork in the city but Hog Shack has a pretty decent one!

Memphis Blues is good, and Peckinpah’s does a very nice one as well. An unsung hero is Bronco Belle, a credible place for pulled pork that’s in the Brentwood Mall food court.

OMGAHDDDD I love eating! PICK ME PICK ME!!! I’ve only tried pulled pork once..and that was wayyy back in Hawaii off a food truck!!

Re-Up BBQ has always been my standby!!
Though one time I did have a pulled pork pizza that could top MANY of the sandwiches I’ve had over the years!
