The 1st Annual Crave: Dine Out in Burnaby Heights!
Follow Me Foodie to CRAVE – April 24-26, 2012
It’s the last day to dine out during CRAVE in Burnaby Heights. Participating restaurants are offering $15, $20, and $25 3 course set menus. To see the restaurants and their menus see here. I had the opportunity to try Chad Thai and Take Sushi, but there are other ones that have caught my interest participating and not participating in CRAVE.
Although it is the last day for CRAVE, the area is not going anywhere… obviously. There are still a ton of restaurants to explore and lots of ethnic cuisine to choose from. Most of them are affordable mom and pop types and suitable for individual, group or family style dining. I was pretty impressed with the variety available in the area and I’m curious to do more foodie research.
Anyway, if you happen to miss the event, then here are my highlights from the two restaurants I tried during CRAVE. The items I ordered are from their regular menus so you can try them at any time if you miss out on CRAVE. I would recommend a little restaurant hopping!
**Friendly reminder: Dine at any of the restaurants participating in CRAVE and enter for your chance to win $50 to dine out in Burnaby Heights again!
Som Tum (Papaya Salad) from Chad Thai
Tom Yum Noodle from Chad Thai (I highly recommend this)
Tuna & Mango Salad from Take Sushi
BBQ Salmon Belly from Take Sushi
Take Roll from Take Sushi
Dang! I wish I had gone to this event. I wanted to go tonight with my family for my little brother’s birthday but they were all stick in the muds and voted to go to White Spot instead! BAH! We have too many ethnicities in my family….. they all want different things, so it usually boils down to generic, chain restaurants when we all get together…… looks like you had some good dinners though.
I am so jealous of the meal you had at Chad Thai and Take Sushi….. those look amazing.
Yes…..good food….xx
@Jayda – no worries!! These restaurants will still be around and they are very AFFORDABLE without the set menus… and you can order off the a la carte which I think is even BETTER!! You can order papaya salad instead of just spring rolls!! Be adventurous!! 🙂
Going to see Hello Dolly tonight upon the recommendation of Hummingbird604…. at the Massey Theater….. so gives us an excuse to go to Tamarind Hill which I haven’t been to in a million years…. looking forward to some good Malaysian food.
i totally missed out on this event because its been so hectic! i hope they do it again and for a longer period of time 🙂
@Linda – the restaurants are so affordable without the event too! So it’s not too late to go on your own! I prefer a la carte over set menu anyways! 🙂
