BC Chefs’ Association Invites Mijune of Follow Me Foodie to Join the Board of Directors!
I’ve been holding it in until I was ready, but I think it’s time. I am very honoured and delighted to announce that I have been invited to join the British Columbia Chefs’ Association (BCCA). I am officially on the Board of Directors and have taken the role of social media. The BCCA was founded in 1958 and this is the first time a blogger has been invited to join the board, so I hope I can deliver justice to the role. Eek! I’m scared, but excited. Mixed feelings!
The British Columbia Chefs’ Association believes that “Our Junior Chefs are Our Future Chefs”. By working with local suppliers and their generous sponsorships we are able to enhance the culinary education and send our chefs to culinary competitions in BC, Canada and worldwide.
“As President of the BC Chefs’ Association I am proud to have Mijune Pak sitting on our Board of Directors. Mijune will bring to the association her talent in food tasting, valuable food commentary and the ability to share our information amongst her extensive network in the food world. Congratulations and look forward to a great relationship with Mijune and our Board of Directors.” – Edgar Rahal, President – British Columbia Chefs Association
“As Vice-President of the BC Chefs’ Association and a proud member of Culinary Team Canada, I am excited to have Mijune Pak on board with the BC Chefs’ Association. Mijune has a special finger on the pulse of BC’s food scene. It is that, combined with her love and excitement for BC’s food culture that sets her above all else. ” – Team Member, Culinary Team Canada and Vice President, British Columbia Chefs Association
“As Second Vice President of the BC Chefs’ Association I am thrilled to have Mijune join the team. She has a natural talent with food and undeniable passion for the culinary world. Her enthusiasm, honesty in her blog posts, and educational journey with food makes it with great pleasure that we invite her to join the BCCA.” – Adi Bernhard, Second Vice President – British Columbia Chefs Association
*Blush* *Breathe* and nervous smile. Those are quite the testimonials, but I’ll keep working hard to live up to them. So what does this all mean!? Basically I’m going to be reporting on more culinary competitions and eating more delicious food while giving you the exclusive BCCA updates! Hard work, but someone has to do it. To be honest, this is actually hard work though. There’s a lot of behind the scenes that goes into these events and blogging about them. I still have lots to learn, but I can’t wait! As light hearted as my blog can be, I do take food seriously as to why my posts are usually so lengthy. I just get too into it! For a taste of what to expect, here are just a couple BCCA events I have blogged about in the past!
Judging the Healthy Chef Competition 2012 – see my post here.
Taste of Talent Benefit Dinner – “Canada’s best culinary talent under one roof, in one kitchen, on one evening. This will be an epic experience.” – See my post here.
My 2012 goals for BCCA:
1. Get them on Twitter – Please FOLLOW us here.
2. Get them on Facebook – Please “LIKE” us here.
3. Share, update and recap BCCA events and culinary competitions.
4. Support culinary talent in Metro Vancouver, the Okanagan & Victoria collectively.
5. Organize food events where YOU can come!
6. Give the website a makeover.
7. Spice it up. Metaphorically.
In order to achieve these goals, I need further recommendations, support and comments. It’s a Follow Me Foodie team effort. Please e-mail or leave a comment below and tell me what future BCCA events you would like to attend. Also tell me what you would like to see on the future website (under construction). I’m bringing the chefs and food lovers closer together! If you would like to be involved or volunteer at events please e-mail: socialmedia(at)bcchefs(dot)com.
Just a side note, but thank you so much to those who have been voting and supporting me in the 365 Days of Dining Campaign. We’re at the tail end of the race and voting closes at 4pm today – please vote for me here. It’s been an intense week, but fun campaign. My sincere gratitude for all those that have been spreading the word on my behalf and the “real work” hasn’t even started yet. I will need to do the rest if I am given the opportunity to continue! Thank you for being so patient and forgiving with me and my support team for spamming you. By the way did I mention you can vote for me here? Thank you!
Congratulations Mijune! What an honor and you totally deserve it!

This is amazing Mijune! I know we are currently competitors, but I am so thrilled for you! As a fellow food lover and blogger, it is so wonderful to see the inclusion of a blogger by BCCA on their Board of Directors. Like you say, lots of hard work ahead, but you can do it!
