Sushi from Minami Yaletown (See my post for their Shokai Menu)
Follow Me Foodie to the 9th Annual Taste of Yaletown!
On October 16 – 27th, The Yaletown Business Improvement Association is welcoming back their 9th Annual Taste of Yaletown!
This year 30 restaurants are offering set menus at $25, $35, and $45. In the past it was always based on a 3 course menu, but this year they’ve changed that to allow chefs more flexibility. They’re also trying to work more with local and seasonal ingredients which affects costs and pricing. Menus can range from 3 courses all the way up to 7 courses and some even have beverage pairings.
Additionally, they are putting an emphasis on lunch time menus and have introduced a free Yaletown Lunch Trolley service for the duration of the event. The trolley brings the public in downtown to Yaletown on Thursdays and Fridays for lunch and drops them back within the hour.
I am always a bit hesitant with these events because it is not always a true representation of what a restaurant can do on a regular night. On the other hand, it’s something fun and social and it gets people trying restaurants they might not have before.
Yaletown has had a nice surge of restaurants over the last couple years and many of the new faces are participating in Taste of Yaletown this year.
