The 3rd Annual Crave: Dine Out in Burnaby Heights is April 22-24.

*Blink* Really? $15 price fixe menus? Blast from the past. I feel like I’m dining in the early 2000’s. It seems like inflation has happened everywhere except for here, and I don’t think any diner will complain about that.

The 3rd Annual Crave in Burnaby Heights is April 22-24. The 3 day event features 3 course set menus at $15, $20 and $25. I have my opinions on Dine Out events (see my do’s and don’ts), but at prices like these it’ll be hard to argue value.

I’ve been supporting this event since the first year and it’s like The Little Engine That Could. It’s been slowly growing every year and I wish there was more enthusiasm for the area. It often gets overlooked which is unfortunate because it has some hidden gems.

If you’ve never explored this historic area of North Burnaby, here is your reason to. It’s full of long standing family run eateries, ethnic restaurants, and affordable family friendly places. It’s hard to get bored here even though it’s a rather small area with a quaint village feel.

Since Crave started I’ve been introduced to Take Sushi, Chad Thai, Broken Rice, and Sfinaki Taverna. All were very good choices and I’d recommend any of them for this year too.

On top of that I’m also giving away this extra large Easter egg hand crafted by one of Vancouver’s top pastry chefs and chocolatiers, Christophe, of Chez Christophe (value $125). This work of art is created with Carma Swiss milk chocolate, (a chocolate unique to Chez Christophe), and inside sits a golden egg filled with delicious surprises. It’s like “Kinder Surprise” for royalty.

You’ll want to crack it open, but because it’s so pretty I don’t know if you’ll want to… on second thought, you’ll want to!
