1. Feast on the Fraser: Longtail Kitchen Seafood Boil & Fry
When: Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM (PDT)
It’s Longtail and chef Justin Cheung… little risk… unless you’re allergic to shellfish.
Roll up your sleeves, gather a group of seafood lovers, and get ready for a seafood boil and fry!
Join Longtail Kitchen for an evening of craft beer, live music and sustainable seafood provided by F.I.S.H. overlooking the Fraser River. Chef Justin Cheung and his team will be laying down a bounty of local Oceanwise fare simmered in Thai tom yum aromatics. Buckets of steamed mussels, clams, crabs and lobsters as well as fried oysters and prawns will be poured on long communal tables with some tasty sides and dipping sauces. Provided with your meal will be a large bottle of Steel & Oak craft beer.
Did I mention there’s going to be live music? AND Justin will dance?! Just kidding… but I can just see his face as he read that. I’m hilarious.
2. Feast on the Fraser at the Anvil Centre
When: Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (PDT)
Do you know this guy!? Chef Nin Rai, owner at L’Abattoir Restaurant and President at Truffles Fine Foods, is preparing one special dinner for one special night! He doesn’t do these often, so it’s pretty exciting!
On Saturday, October 3rd, learn how to pair, prepare and plate a creative and thoughtful menu from chef Rai. Chef Rai will demonstrate expert wine pairings, food preparation and presentation. Good timing for Thanksgiving!
4 Course Menu
– Vanilla Butter Poached Sturgeon with local chanterelles and watercress infused oil
– Ice Wine Gelee with citrus segment trio
– Seared Skin on Fraser Run Steelhead with roasted butternut squash puree, heirloom baby beets, pinot noir emulsion
– Locoe Spiced Pumpkin and Banana Fosters Flambé
* Wine pairings with each course are included in the ticket price *
Besides getting fed, the space where it happens is going to be really special. It’s going to be first dinner of its kind to be hosted at the Anvil Centre.
The Anvil Centre is the new community centre in New Westminster. The boutique venue hosts community-based arts, dance, and heritage programs, as well as public arts performances. It is also home to The New Westminster New Media Gallery, New Westminster Museum and Archives, and Canadian Lacrosse Hall of Fame.
I’ve seen photos of the Anvil Centre and it looks gorgeous! I can only imagine what this dinner will look like!
