Mijune Pak and the Jaguar F-type R bring respectability to their respective callings

Mijune Pak Follow Me Foodie Blogger Travel Food Vancouver SunVANCOUVER — Aretha Franklin sang about it; Rodney Dangerfield craved it; and Jaguar and bloggers have been fighting for it for years.

We’re talking about respect. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

The Queen of Soul certainly earned it, as did the portly comedian, albeit posthumously.

And today’s Big Wheels’ pairing, of a Jaguar and a blogger, goes a long way in demonstrating those two much-maligned subjects have found respectability.

Mijune Pak is the force of nature behind Follow Me Foodie, a Vancouver blog-turned-international sensation; the F-Type R is the force of nature behind Jaguar’s return to the upper echelons of sports car building after a four-decade absence.

When Pak was born in Vancouver in the summer of 1986, Jaguar was a decade into a long and sad decline, its products the butt of jokes and its once-proud heritage in tatters. It would be 20 more years before it would begin crawling out of that hole.

For Pak, who grew up in the Sunshine Hills neighbourhood of North Delta, those 20 years were spent like so many other Vancouver suburbanites, eventually attending high school (Seaquam) then on to university (SFU), where she earned a communications degree.

Unlike many of her peers, Pak developed an appetite for all things food at an early age, saying she’s loved cooking and baking as long as she can remember. Pak and her longtime best friend Susan Chow even used food as an olive branch of sorts.
