Bringing back memories from high school when we used to host our “study groups” over coffee and doughnuts, and at that time even sandwiches and soups. Yes, I was in high school when they first introduced their savoury menu… kind of dating myself, but Tim Hortons is nostalgic.
Nowadays we cross paths mostly at the Vancouver International Airport, even though I drive by them all the time throughout the city. It’s not that I don’t patron them, but it’s most enjoyable at the airport. I can sit down, relax, and grab a bite conveniently before my flight; the only downfall is that they haven’t launched these new lattes there yet! But, soon!
I know what you’re thinking. New latte? Hasn’t Tim Hortons always served latte? Yes, but this is the re-launch of their new and improved lattes. Their testing markets exclusively on the West Coast too, specifically in Metro Vancouver (see participating stores), so those in BC are first to try.
The new lattes are made to order with freshly ground (Arabica whole) espresso beans and freshly steamed 100% Canadian milk.
I had a little fun with mine and added a Chai tea bag. I left it in for only 20 seconds so it was almost like a Chai tea latte, but with espresso and a touch of tea. At $2.99 a cup it’s as affordable as the rest of their menu too.
It might be news that Tim Hortons is using 100% Canadian milk, but rest assured this goes for all their milk and cream. Currently all milk and cream sold in Canada is produced in Canada.
Besides supporting the Canadian economy, they also established the Tim Hortons Coffee Partnership in 2005. The goal is to work with the farmers from where their beans are sourced, and improve their businesses on economical, social and environmental levels. To this day they have worked with 4000+ farmers in Brazil, Colombia, Guatemala and Honduras.
And don’t forget, Wednesday June 1 is Tim Hortons Camp Day. 100% of proceeds from #CampDay coffee sales go to the Tim Horton Children’s Foundation that will help send more than 19,000 kids from low-income families across North America on a life-changing experience to camp.
