Welcome fellow foodies. I’m Mijune – a dedicated foodie from Vancouver. Food is my passion. I study, read, cook and eat it. I am a Vancouver foodie, and very critical when it comes to food… as well as people – j/k!

I write/blog/critique/review and of course eat lots of food in Vancouver and the lower mainland as well as when I’m traveling. Vancouver is my home and also where I was born and raised and there’s a lot of culinary talent to show off. I’m searching for the best ____, popular hole-in-the-wall restaurants & local gems. I invite all foodies to follow me on this tasty adventure.

I’ll try almost anything, even if I know I won’t really like it. However I’m a lot more adventurous when I’m traveling eg: eating Scorpions in Thailand. I’m still alive! I love creative dishes but also appreciate traditional ones and I’m a fan of fusion dishes. Oh and I love dessert – and that might be an understatement.

Dear Mijune,

Discovered your blog the other day while surfing the net. I am impressed by the quality of your blog and the beautiful pictures. Very impressive. I feel that blog has merit because you have a palate; not because you’ve eaten out a lot and are adventurous but because of your upbringing. Obviously you learned about food because your family loved food. I’ve been in the food business for 30+ years and found that people that generally love food ate well at home, those that don’t, ate bland, processed crap.
I left you a previous comment but that may not have gotten thru, ‘cos it was your old site.
I recommend most highly the Shanghai Cuisine restaurant , inside the Continental Plaza( TD bank is on the east corner), on Cambie and Sexsmith(about 4 blocks east of No.3). I don’t know if you’ve reviewed this place yet …the food is fantastic, the best Shanghai restaurant in Richmond, the menu is extensive but not expensive. There are some items I’ve never seen before and desperately want to try. The ambiance and decor is very good. We had a noodle soup(fresh handmade noodles) with yellow chives and sliced eel, pork belly with soy, chinese cabbage and cooked tofu(minced into a spread like a coarse humus), xiao lon bao(unbelieveablely good), hot soy milk with Chinese donut. This place is better than the Shanghai River, the No.1 Shanghai, the Wonderful Shanghai and the Suhang(restaurants I consider the best of Shanghainese cuisine. Some places match the food but can’t match the menu. Enjoy your culinary adventures. Thanks for your blog.

Sincerely yours’
Bow W. Liu

Hi Bow!

I love reading your comments and thank you for taking the time to write to me. I really appreciate it. I’m so pleased that you like my blog and I am flattered by the compliments and insight. I really am a girl that just loves to eat and share my experiences with people like yourself :)

Is the Shanghai place you’re talking about the old “Chopsticks” restaurant beside Pearl Castle? If so, I have tried it when it was called Chopsticks, but not since it switched over. I actualyl really enjoy Chen’s Shanghai, but not I must try this one! I dine in Richmond a lot so I will put this on the map FOR SURE! Thanks for the recommendation – this is really wonderful.

Happy eating!

Hi Mijune
I came across your “The Best Poutine on Davie Street” video blog while reading Inside Vancouver Blog. I have been looking for places to go for poutine for a while and wanted to thank you for spotting them. Your blogs/reviews are very detailed and the pictures are great! It seems you put a lot of time and work to make this site and I’m glad I found it. Just one question though, how are you able to finish all that food?! If you’re ever looking for help to eat I am your bottomless pit haha. This site has made me hungry now so I shall go eat.

Hi again Mijune,

While I follow mostly the local blogs, checking in once a while to your blog is special especially when you write about your travels and culinary discoveries overseas. Makes me feel like I’m along on the trips (and wish I were !). Love the great pics as usual.

Bon appetit,
LotusRapper
