I am not enthusiastic about ordering off price fixe menus because I’m quite adventurous with food and price fixe menus tend to play it safe, but I was actually impressed with West Restaurant’s Dine Out Menu ($38 for 3 courses). As usual the cocktails were stellar and the food was very good.

The menu I had was the Chef’s Tasting Menu which I enjoyed, but I was hoping to try more of his vegetarian items. Chef Foshee’s cooking style is very natural, delicate and light. The presentation was near flawless and he is certainly an artist as much as he is a chef.

The desserts were a highlight and I’d come back for that alone. Executive Chef Trey Foshee and Pastry Chef Lori Huffman create artistic dishes that are very forward in thought and simply put, they are both very current with ideas in food. This is a continuation of California Modern – Chef’s Tasting Menu (Part 3/3).

The menu I had was the Chef’s Tasting Menu which I enjoyed, but I was hoping to try more of his vegetarian items. Chef Foshee’s cooking style is very natural, delicate and light. It was creative and very progressive in thought. This is a continuation of California Modern – Chef’s Tasting Menu (Part 2/3).

San Diego is more tacos, burgers and gastropub than it is truffles, steak and white tablecloth, but that is not to say it doesn’t have a sophisticated market to feed. I came to California Modern at George’s on the Cove for Chef’s Tasting Menu which features modern Californian cuisine. Part 1/3.

The following restaurants are located around Kuta which is the most popular tourist town in Bali. Places like Uluwatu, Seminyak and Jimbaran have some of the nicest beaches and the ambiance just trumps all. These restaurants are focused on resort dining where the nicest beach comes before the nicest plate of food.

My hands were bloody greasy after this meal… well no blood, just grease. I was prepared though. When “Joe Beef” is featured on the menu I’m expecting to get my protein intake for the month and enough calories for a family of four. It was exactly as I imagined it and more.

Mourad Lalouh’s is the chef and owner of 1 Michelin Star Aziza, which is the only Moroccan restaurant in North America to receive a Michelin Star. Together with the team at West Restaurant, Chef Lahlou prepared a 7 course New Moroccan menu with recipes from his new cook book and cocktail pairings by David W.
