In the context of downtown Vancouver I would say this is a solid place for authentic and traditional Chinese or Shanghainese food. However outside of downtown Vancouver I would say it does get better. This would be standard for many good places specializing in the same cuisine.

No. 1 Shanghai Cuisine. Ahh, I don’t know about that one. It wouldn’t be in my top 5 places to go for Shanghainese cuisine in Richmond, BC, but then again I only tried their dinner menu and perhaps their dim sum is better. I found the dinner very average and it wasn’t very inspiring.

I decided to visit Top Shanghai Cuisine which is more or less known as one of “The Best Shanghai Restaurants” in town next to Shanghai River. Although I enjoyed my dining experience, I did find the items hit and miss, and ordering was a bit of a gamble.

Being in Vancouver, we’re spoiled by great Asian/Asian Fusion cuisine, so I decided to make it a separate category. Vancouver dominates and excels when it comes to Asian/Asian fusion cuisine. Here are the 20 Best of 2011!

It is probably one of the most popular and well liked Shanghainese restaurants in Richmond. It’s one of my go-to’s although I like to switch things up and try new places, however if it’s a big group, nobody ever objects to this as a dinner spot.
