The desserts at Broken Rice are traditional and modern, but made with care and thought. Some are original to the restaurant and I would recommend trying some because they are different, but I’m not sure if it is something I would have to order again. All ice cream and sorbets are made in house.
There are no short cuts here. Their passion to do something different and creative may come across as “fusion” or “Western”, but there is a lot of thought and professional execution going into their recipes, quality of ingredients and end presentation. The dinner menu offers more creativity.

This was no trap, this was just Vietnamese done differently. No, it’s not quite fusion, but it is modern and more upscale for the area. The recipes are catered a bit for Western tastes, but it is not watered down and they are not taking lack of familiarity with Vietnamese food to their advantage.
The menu might not look as exciting or creative as some of the other food trucks, but give it a chance. It is typical Asian comfort food and their potions are enough for two. All sauces and marinades are made from scratch and it is one of the most budget friendly food trucks offering great value in Vancouver.

They specialize in modern banh mi sandwiches, steamed baos, and Asian style tacos. They made the banh mi even more approachable by replacing the traditional Vietnamese cold cuts and pâtés with familiar American meats, creative Asian sauces and fillings.
