Slavic Rolls (Food Cart/Truck)

Slavic Rolls are traditional Eastern European desserts made from sweet yeast dough. The pastry dough is wrapped around a wooden cylinder and rolled in cinnamon and sugar before being baked in a rotisserie oven. The sugars caramelize as it bakes and after they are rolled in your choice of toppings.

Chef Paul Kahan is one of Chicago’s top chefs and this is his newest restaurant. They specialize in pork and house made sausages, charcuterie and rillettes and it’s quickly becoming a local favourite. The food caters to their carefully selected beer, wine and spirits menu and vise versa.

Baba’s Perogies

So how did I discover this VERY hidden gem for home made perogies? It all started with Twitter and the words “Pulled Pork Perogies”. I’m a huge fan of pulled pork and I also really like perogies, but having the two combined was something unheard of. Needless to say I was curious and exited to try this modern day pierogi.
