Barbeque

So you thought how much seafood I could eat in 48 hours was good? Wait until you see how much meat I can eat in 3… uhh that sounded a lot better in my head. Okay, stop it. Anyway it was the 1st Annual Festival of Meat – Brewery & The Beast in Vancouver, BC and it was freaking fantastic!

In a food competitive State like California San Diego doesn’t portray itself as the culinary leader or a “foodie city”, but it’s beautiful and affordable and very laid back. There are certainly some great restaurants and cool neighbourhoods, but for the most part it is a place to just relax (ideally with a craft beer).

The following restaurants are located around Kuta which is the most popular tourist town in Bali. Places like Uluwatu, Seminyak and Jimbaran have some of the nicest beaches and the ambiance just trumps all. These restaurants are focused on resort dining where the nicest beach comes before the nicest plate of food.

From international cuisine to local Indonesian favourites, the following restaurants are located in Ubud which is a small town known for its arts and culture scene in Bali. This is Bali in a blink of an eye!

It was a modern replication of the Japanese country side and how fishermen would grill fish along the shore-side over an open flame by their boats. With fresh seafood surrounding the “boat”, the chefs here cook the food in front of their customers and transfer the dishes on long rowing ores.

In Vancouver many tend to think of izakaya places as funky Japanese restaurants with eclectic Japanese tapas. While these are izakayas, so are places like Zakkushi which specialize in grilled meats. An izakaya is simply a drinking establishment which also serves food. This is a great one!

From my “Something Blue” Menu. The blueberry BBQ sauce was inspired by the Blueberry BBQ sauce used for the beef brisket sandwich I had from Blue Smoke BBQ. I decided to use chicken because it was for a bridal shower and I wanted to feature something lighter. Yes, this is considered “light” for me.
