Diner

The area consists of long time businesses and the market is full of iconic institutions selling meats, cheese, seafood, spices and produce. It would be a shame to visit Toronto and miss out on this since the city prides itself on diversity. Here is my self guided foodie tour of Kensington Market.

It is the “New York” of the West Coast and being an Alpha city it is not really short of anything. It is fancy and ghetto with everything in between and there are more restaurants than anyone wants to count. I made a side trip out to LA and this isn’t an official “Follow Me Foodie to LA”, but just a lick of LA.

It was an impromptu trip to California and I spent most of my time in San Diego with another quick side trip to Los Angeles (LA). I’ve been to California several times, but it’s just such a massive state and each area is so different in terms of the culinary scene. Here is a highlight of San Diego – Part 1.

This is really just a small taste of what Bali has to offer and it’s much much more than just the food. From international cuisine to local Indonesian favourites, the following restaurants are located in Ubud which is a small town known for its arts and culture scene in Bali. This is Bali in a blink of an eye!

And this was the famous sign and the “rules” at Wilensky’s. You take the sandwich as is, you don’t ask for it to be cut in two, and you don’t tip. Wilensky’s has been open for 80 years and going and it’s still the same family and staff running the show. I ordered their famous “Wilensky’s Special”.

It’s not my favourite Filipino restaurant based on what I tried, but it was decent, quick, casual and very affordable. There were some execution issues and it was food that you just know they make better at home. It was just very average on a grander scale of things, but people seem to love it.

I was debating between dinner at Lula Cafe or Longman & Eagle, both located in Logan Square, and without a coin toss Longman & Eagle won. Lula Cafe is known for their breakfast and brunch which was likely a better bet than dinner. It was a bit “granola” and vegetarian focused for me.

Yes! It’s National Egg Day! I have been waiting for this day to arrive! Actually, not entirely true, but I love eggs and I’ll take any excuse to eat a hundred. Follow Me Foodie to my runny egg yolk series and a celebration of all egg dishes!
