For the banana shake, it’s essential that the bananas are frozen because they give the shake a thick and creamy texture while still keeping it healthy and light. The hazelnut & chocolate puree plus a bit of cinnamon and vanilla rounds the flavours out and complements the bananas nicely.

Widely used by chefs and in professional kitchens, the Vitamix is known as one of the best blenders available. Girl Guides ages 8-12 gathered from all over Metro Vancouver to compete for the Iron Chef team title. Each group of 4-6 was asked to create a 3 course meal using a selection of 13 secret ingredients. Here are their creations!

Beet chips and apple chips sounded pretty “yawn” to me so I wanted to do something a bit different, but still simple. I’ve made a chocolate lava cake with a beet coulis centre before so why not beet chips with chocolate? Also use the code ‘slice and dice’ for a discount on the mandoline at Call the Kettle Black!

The inspiration for this was colour. I wasn’t really doing anything new with the ingredients, but I wanted a colourful salad that wasn’t a typical fruit salad. Here is my Watermelon, Blueberry, Feta & Mint Salad with Pomegranate Champagne Vinaigrette Recipe. Simple and easy.
