Calgary, AB – City Palate’s “The Really, Really Long Table Dinner” (Recap)

On September 16th, 250 people attended “The Really, Really Long Table Dinner” on Stephen Avenue in the heart of downtown, Calgary. For Vancouverites, this would be like hosting a long table on Granville or Robson Street. It was a challenging undertaking but they did an incredible job.

It was an honour to have four Top Chef contestants from Calgary cook an exclusive 5 course dinner for us in an intimate setting. The Top Chef Canada Ultimate Culinary Weekend dinner was hosted at River Cafe at Prince’s Island Park – one of the city’s most notable fine dining restaurants specializing in regional cuisine.

Slow Food Calgary’s 12th Annual Feast of Fields at Rouge Restaurant

The 12th Annual Feast of Fields was presented by Slow Food Calgary and it was hosted in the garden of one of Calgary’s most celebrated restaurants, Rouge Restaurant & Bistro. Attendees of all ages wined and dined around the featured booths sampling hors d’oeuvres from some of the city’s top restaurants.

Follow Me Foodie to Calgary, Alberta!

As a Vancouverite, we don’t really care about Calgary, as to why I said “you might not want to Follow Me Foodie here”, but I can honestly say it was a nice surprise. I wasn’t even that surprised though because I was expecting good things. I wouldn’t call it a “culinary destination” yet, but it’s “the little engine that could” and I wouldn’t underestimate it.

Follow Me Foodie: Evolution of the Stilton Cheesecake

Its origin may not be officially documented, but the history of the Stilton Cheesecake has strong roots in Vancouver. It was arguably invented in, or at least introduced to, Vancouver at the 1996 opening of Diva at the Met. The creator was Michael Noble, who was the executive chef at the time, but is now chef and proprietor of NOtaBLE in Calgary.
