My Follow Me Foodie Favourites & Best of 2012! I prefer calling it my “favourites” or most “memorable” experiences, but I’ll include “the best” just because I’m weak and want to align with every other “best of 2012″ list out there. This is a recap of my delicious 2012.

The BC agriculture tied together with a multicultural population allows for a very diverse food scene that I am really proud of. The emphasis on local ingredients is growing stronger and while be have a whole lot of farms, fisheries, suppliers and artisans to choose from, here are just 10 of some of my favourites.

It’s the 35th World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) in Daejeon, Korea and Chef Tobias MacDonald from La Belle Auberge is the representative for the Americas. I was honoured to be invited to attend Chef Tobias’ final practice run for his Global Chef’s Menu at La Belle Auberge.

I’ve been holding it in until I was ready, but I think it’s time. I am very honoured and delighted to announce that I have been invited to join the BC Chefs’ Association (BCCA). I am officially on the Board of Directors and have taken the role and responsibility of social media. Details here!

I like Jazz Apples, Jazz music and heck even Jazz hands, but what about Asian Jazz? Hmmm, I don’t know how jazzed up I am about this one. Chinese food in Surrey? And it’s next to Source Adult. All signs were pointing to no, but I did it anyways.

There are bad chains and there are good chains, and I find Cactus Club one of the better ones. I actually enjoy the food here, but it’s pricey. You don’t come for just the food though & with their Rob Feenie Signature dishes, they’re a growing success.

A hidden gem that’s worth the visit if you value the talent of culinary legends. Housed in a 100 year old Victorian House it’s French fine dining at its best. I tried Chef Tobias MacDonald’s Global Chef’s menu that has already won Gold in the WACS Global Chef’s Challenge.

Known to all or maybe just to the pretigious culinary scene, it’s actually the top rated Zagat Restaurant in Metro Vancouver, one of four Mobil Exxon 4-stars in Vancouver, and led by culinary world masters chef and owner Bruno Marti and Executive Chef Tobias MacDonald.
