My Follow Me Foodie Favourites & Best of 2012! I prefer calling it my “favourites” or most “memorable” experiences, but I’ll include “the best” just because I’m weak and want to align with every other “best of 2012″ list out there. This is a recap of my delicious 2012.
The Willy Wonka of chocolatiers in Dallas! I admire and value fearless flavours, innovation and everything made with good quality ingredients. Dude, Sweet Chocolate was all of the above. The Fungus Amongus – a porcini mushroom, pumpkin seed toffee was delicious!
Guero’s Taco Bar offers Tex-Mex & Mexican food at a reasonable price. It’s popular to locals and famous for margaritas and it’s apparently Bill Clinton’s Tex-Mex choice when visiting Austin.
The Boiling Pot in Austin, Texas offers Cajun and Creole boiled seafood in a family style atmosphere with the food poured right on the table. Everyone is given a bib and a wooden mallet and there’s no plates or utensils.
Shoal Creek Saloon is one of Austin, Texas’s oldest restaurants. It offers hearty Southern Louisiana cooking, Cajun & Creole food and “Austin’s Best Pork Chop”. Advertising “colored tv” & with dead animals on the wall, it’s a Texas experience!
Austin, Texas is bursting with frozen yogurt shops and Tart is one of the relatively new ones to hit the scene. Tart offers non-organic and organic frozen yogurt, but they’re definitely trying to make a name for themselves in the organic frozen yogurt department.

Kolache Factory is a franchise that started in Houston, Texas and it’s popular for breakfast & brunch. It specializes in kolaches, a delicious traditional Eastern European baked bun stuffed with sweet or savory filling. They’re made from scratch and baked daily!
Smokey Mo’s BBQ is a casual family restaurant where Austin locals go for good old fashioned Texas BBQ. It offers every kind of meat, big portions & cheap prices. On my hunt for the best beef brisket – this was my last stop.
